Gauge
Track AI account limits, reset times, spend, status, budgets, and runway
Gauge tracks limits, resets, spend, and account runway across Nexus and supported external AI tools. It complements Usage, which measures requests passing through the selected Runtime.
Gauge is optional and off by default. Every external source remains opt-in after Gauge itself is enabled.
Connect an account
Open Gauge and add a supported source. Depending on the provider, Nexus may offer a local session, API key, admin key, OAuth, device flow, CLI, local file, custom endpoint, browser session, or AWS credential flow.
Use the guided Runtime-owned sign-in when offered. Reporting credentials are write-only; API responses show their presence and status, not their values or local references.
Dashboard and readings
Gauge separates current posture from detailed history:
- Dashboard summarizes available capacity and compact history.
- Readings show the latest cached, redacted facts for each account.
- Activity loads provider-specific activity only when requested.
- Status keeps provider status-page health separate from local credential health.
- Diagnostics explains connection and cached-reading state without exposing secrets.
Limits and reset windows
Gauge can show quota windows, reset times, balances, credits, and provider-specific messages. For supported coding accounts it can estimate whether the currently active account is likely to last through the next hour.
Reported facts and Nexus estimates remain labeled separately.
Spend, budgets, and alerts
Budgets can count provider-reported spend, estimated spend, or both. The selected basis determines what contributes to the budget.
Alerts can monitor limits, spend, and provider status. A Gauge budget is a local guardrail and does not change billing or account limits at the upstream provider.
Recommendations and routing capacity
Gauge recommendations answer whether a selected account is likely to support a requested duration. Results include confidence and machine-readable reasons.
A Smart Route can opt into a redacted Gauge capacity signal. Gauge never switches accounts or providers outside that route's configured fallback policy.
Privacy and retention
Gauge does not return prompts, responses, tool payloads, raw provider responses, credentials, or local paths.
Retention is controlled by gauge.retentionDays. If readings are stale or an account is disconnected, treat capacity recommendations as advisory.
