Manage, share, and migrate stacks

Export stacks, rebuild indexes, and work with Classic stacks.

Open a stack's action menu to organize it, inspect chunks, or export it.

Export and import

Choose Export... to save a stack as a .mstyks package. A folder's Export Folder... action exports its stacks together.

To import, open the Knowledge Stacks sidebar menu and choose Import Knowledge Stacks..., then select the package. Check its status before adding it to a conversation; an imported stack may need processing or an available embedding model.

Organize without deleting

  • Pin Knowledge Stack keeps an important stack marked for quick access.
  • Move Knowledge Stack changes its folder.
  • Clone Knowledge Stack creates a separate copy.
  • Archive Knowledge Stack preserves the stack while making it read-only. Use Unarchive Knowledge Stack to edit it again.

Rebuild searchable data

Use Rebuild Index when the index is missing but original content is available. Force Compose... reprocesses eligible items in a ready stack.

If you change the embedding model, rebuild the stack before using its new index. Keep the original sources available.

Existing Classic stacks

Classic stacks continue to work in their current format. Choose Migrate to Next Gen only when you are ready to update that stack.

Migration is one-way and applies to the selected stack. After migration, build its Next Gen index before using it again. Export a copy first if you want to retain a separate backup.

An imported Classic stack with no original content may be blocked from migration. Keep using it as-is, or import an updated package. A stack missing both searchable data and original content must be imported or installed again.
