Back up and restore data

Export your data, recover a backup, and manage desktop storage.

Msty keeps workspace data locally. Export a backup before moving devices, changing workspace storage, or restoring older data.

Export a backup

  1. Open Settings → Data.
  2. Under Export data, choose Export and save the archive.
  3. Set a Backup reminder interval if you want reminders to export regularly.

A reminder prompts you to back up; it is not an automatic sync service. To export only one workspace, use its workspace-menu export action.

Restore

  1. Export the current data first if you need to keep it.
  2. In Settings → Data → Recovery, start Restore data.
  3. Choose the backup archive and review the confirmation.
  4. Restore it, then restart when prompted.

Restoring replaces existing data and cannot be undone through the restore dialog.

Desktop workspace storage

The Workspace storage section can enable file-based storage for an older workspace or change its location after migration. Finish any running data operation before moving it.

Lost Workspaces can find workspace databases no longer listed in the app. Recovery depends on those files still being available.
